STUNTS & ABILITIES -5

HUMANITY (+1 REFRESH)

  • UPSTART SPECIES (+1)
Many races resent the fact that humanity gained a seat on the council so soon after first contact. The batarians in particular clashed with human interests in the Verge, blaming them for depriving them of valuable resources. Because of this humans suffer a penalty of -1 in social conflicts.

DRONE (-1 REFRESH)

RECHARGE: 2

Drones act as Companions as can be found on page 80 of the Bulldogs! book. They receive two advances initially. Each additional Refresh spent on the Combat Drone gives the character two additional advances to spend on the Drone. Once advances are chosen by spending Refresh they are permanent and can only be changed during a Major Milestone. A drone will last for a scene out of combat or for a number of rounds equal to the Shifts generated with a Systems Roll against the probe’s quality in combat.

Drones don’t have stress boxes; instead, they give the Engineer who summoned them the ability to withstand an additional Mild Consequence— specifically, the consequence that the drone is taken out. The Drone will be unavailable until another action is spent by the character making another Systems Check.

  • IMPROVED DRONE (0 ADVANCEMENTS)
Drone is of Fair (+2) Quality adding a +2 to a character’s physical actions including attacking or defending.
  • IMPROVED TECHNICAL DATABASE (0 ADVANCEMENTS)
A Drone can be improved to allow them to assist a character with any Mental Skill Rolls in addition to the physical ones. This is essentially the Scope improvement on page 80. Note that Drones cannot aid with Social Skills so no additional advances can be spent on Scope.

INCINERATE (-1 REFRESH)

DAMAGE: 1 RANGE: 0-4 PENETRATION: 1

NOTES: Aspect: “On Fire!!!”
RECHARGE: 2

The flames will persist placing the “On Fire!” aspect on the target if their shields are down and can set anything flammable on fire. Once you’ve applied the aspect to a target, it lasts until the end of your next turn; you or one of your allies can tag the aspect once for free.

OVERLOAD (-1 REFRESH) (-2 ADVANCEMENTS)

DAMAGE: 2 (4) RANGE: 0-6 PENETRATION: 3

NOTES: Specialized: +2 damage against synthetics or anyone with ELECTROMAGNETIC VULNERABILITY.
RECHARGE: 3

Use the Systems Skill to make an attack versus an opponent’s Athletics or System Skill. If a target is hit then their shields are down and must be recharged normally before being effective again.

When Overload is used against unshielded Geth and other synthetics with the ELECTROMAGNETIC VULNERABILITY disadvantage it acts as a Weapon 2 Attack with Penetration of 3 and any synthetic target struck has a block against all actions equal to Stress caused by the attack for a turn.

  • NEURAL SHOCK (-1 ADVANCEMENT)
Incapacitate weaker organic enemies for a short duration. The Overload does half damage to unshielded organics (it is Weapon 0 unless Heavy Overload has been purchased) and any organic target struck has a block against all actions equal to Stress caused by the attack for a turn.
  • HEAVY OVERLOAD (-1 ADVANCEMENT)
Your Overload is much more disruptive to synthetics causing unparalleled damage. For an additional Refresh the damage to unshielded synthetics is increased by 2 Stress for a maximum of Weapon 4.

ADVANCEMENTS (-4 REFRESH)

For each Refresh spent gain 2 Advancements.

WELL EQUIPPED (-7 ADVANCEMENTS)

  • Start the game with an additional 1 point of equipment per Advance spent.

OMNI-TOOL

HMOT BASIC

Range Bonus: +1 Recharge Modifier: 0 Shields Modifier: +1 Systems: +0

Qualities: Penetration: 1.
Cost: 3

These are military-grade omni-tools, made available to very select forces. Acquiring them is extremely difficult, except for those in the military. The HMOT Basic model is used for battlefield commandos with tech abilities. While the omni-tool itself doesn’t provide any tech benefits, it does have a slight shield protection upgrade and better close-quarters damage capability.

ELECTRIFIED OMNI-BLADE

DAMAGE: 2 RANGE: 0 PENETRATION: 0

NOTES: Has an Electrified Aspect.
COST: 1

Make a powerful attack with Fists that does Damage: 2. Because it takes a moment to power up and manifest the omni-blade the attack roll is made at -1.

BACKGROUND

Alena was born on Eden Prime to loving parents who adored their children. She was the oldest with three brothers and was something of a tom boy. Her father was a laborer and mechanic for the Eden Prime Monorail system and her mother was a well regarded archaeologist who was part of the team that discovered the Prothean Beacon. Alena was a natural with computer systems and tech in general and her mother hoped she would follow in her footsteps and pursue an academic career.

RISING CONFLICT

Alena’s family was torn apart when Spectre Saren Arterius led the Geth in an attack on the idyllic human colony. Her father was one of the first to die as the Geth gained control of the monorail in the early moments of the assault using it to ferry troops throughout the battle. Her mother managed to escape the Geth assault but all of her co-workers were slaughtered in front of her eyes leaving her traumatized and distant. Alena was forced to raise her brothers alone as her mother’s malaise led her to taking pills. When Alena graduated high school she turned down a scholarship to Grissom Academy and fled her ailing family. She joined the Systems Alliance Navy and became a combat Engineer using her advanced Tech skills to great effect. She felt like it was her duty to protect the citizens of the Alliance from the kind of tragedy her family had endured at the hands of Saren and the Geth.

THE STORY

STORY TITLE: EDEN’S FALL

GUEST STARRING: Molan Wiks

Sadly that was far from the last tragedy facing Eden Prime. Or Alena and her family. In the wake of the Reaper Invasion Cerberus attacked Eden Prime so they could gain access to the 50,000 year old Prothean stasis pod they had learned of in the Mars Archives. The Systems Alliance was overwhelmed by the Reaper attack and could not spare any troops for the defense of the beleaguered colony. Alena was on leave visiting her family and was instrumental in forming the resistance. Cerberus forces rounded up all able bodied colonists telling the story that they had gone to perform tedious but safe manual labor in a Cerberus research camp on the other side of the planet. When food rations were increased as “payment for the work”, most of the complaints died out. Alena’s brothers were among the captured and she did not believe the Cerberus story for a second. Using her advanced technical skills along with some assistance from an STG Infiltration Team led by Molan Wiks she was able to hack the Cerberus network and track down her brothers. They were being herded on a transport ship out of the system to some unnamed Cerberus facility. Despite their best efforts they were unsuccessful in stopping the Cerberus freighter. Alena’s mother has never forgiven her for not saving her brothers.
