Batarians

A race of four-eyed bipeds native to the world of Khar’shan, the batarians are a disreputable species that chose to isolate itself from the rest of the galaxy. The Terminus Systems are infested with batarian pirate gangs and slaving rings, fueling the stereotype of the batarian thug. It should be noted that these criminals do not represent average citizens, who are forbidden to leave batarian space by their omnipresent and paranoid government.

Despite several disagreements with the Citadel and simmering hostility toward humans, most batarians prefer profitable pursuits such as drug running and slave grabs to out-and-out warfare. They have a reputation for being shrewd businessmen and merchants, though in more lawless regions of the galaxy like Omega, negotiations with a batarian are likely to be conducted at gunpoint.

BATARIAN (-1 REFRESH)

  • KEEN SIGHT (-1):
    Batarians have 2 sets of eyes one on top of the other. This provides them with better eyesight than most other species. When making any perception related skill rolls, batarians gain a +2 if using their sight.
  • LOW LIGHT VISION (–1)
    Batarians have eye structures that are better than average at seeing in dark conditions. They can ignore darkness aspects, except for aspects coming from the complete absence of light (such as Pitch Black).
  • INSULAR CULTURE (+1)
    To many batarians seem gruff, arrogant and prone to using violence to solve conflicts. They also have a reputation as slavers and pirates. Because of this batarians suffer a penalty of -1 in conflicts not involving Intimidation.

OPTIONAL

  • HARD TO KILL (–2)
    Batarians are sturdy and have a great resistance to pain. They automatically gain an additional stress box. They can also take an additional mild physical consequence.
