Mass Effect: From the Ashes
Cryo Blast is a tech power that where the user’s omni-tool fires a mass of super-cooled subatomic particles capable of snap-freezing targets within a certain radius. Frozen enemies are more susceptible to damage.
CRYO BLAST (-1 REFRESH)
DAMAGE: N/A RANGE: 0-3 PENETRATION: N/A
NOTES: Block against Athletics.
This tech ability can only be used on unprotected targets. Shields and Barriers must be brought down before Cryo Blast can be effective.
Make a Systems Block against the target’s Athletics or Might. The target is unable to move or make any Athletics actions (including defense rolls) unless the block is defeated. The attack will also effectively reduce the armor the target is wearing by 1 point. The Block will fade naturally at the beginning of the attacker’s next Exchange or sooner if the block is defeated.
Targets taken out when frozen through the use of weapons or other damage dealing abilities shatter and can sometimes cause a Cryo Explosion.
Cryo explosions create a blast of ice that may freeze nearby vulnerable enemies (all those without shields or barriers in the same zone as the initial target). Cryo explosions can be triggered by taking out an enemy that has been frozen by Cryo Blasts or Cryo Ammo with any of the powers from the list below:
BIOTICS – BIOTIC CHARGE, BIOTICS – NOVA, BIOTICS – SHOCKWAVE, BIOTICS – THROW, BIOTICS – WARP, TECH – INCINERATE, TECH – OVERLOAD. It can also be triggered by a blow from Krogans with the Rage Stunt or any character using an Omni-Blade or by using Concussive Shot.
Anyone in the same zone of a Cryo Explosion must resist a Block to Athletics equal to the initial block created.
IMPROVEMENTS (-1 ADVANCE APIECE)
Reduce Recharge to 1.
- DEEP CRYO BLAST
Reduce Armor by an additional point. This can be taken twice for a total of -3 to Armor with a successful attack.
- FULL CRYO BLAST
The block will remain in effect for an extra Exchange per Advance up to a maximum of 3 Exchanges.
- CRYO BLAST RADIUS
Make a single attack against two targets in the same zone.
